Sticks and Stones — The Little Cabin That Keeps Calling You Back
Some cabins are nice. Sticks and Stones is something more — it's the kind of place guests return to for their 4th stay, their 6th stay, their 30th anniversary, their 45th anniversary. One guest even said Heartland's staff saved their entire trip when another rental fell through, and Sticks and Stones made their 30th anniversary unforgettable. With 140 five-star reviews and a near-perfect 4.9 rating, this cabin has earned every one of them.
A Location That Gets It Just Right
Nestled just off the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, tucked in the peaceful wooded hills between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Sticks and Stones has mastered the art of being close to everything while feeling completely removed from it. Dollywood is 12 minutes away. Anakeesta is 13 minutes. The Island in Pigeon Forge is a quick drive down the mountain. But up here, surrounded by trees and mountain views, you'd never know any of it existed. That's the magic.
Inside: Cozy, Romantic & Made for Two
Step through the door and the cabin's warm personality immediately wraps around you. The living room is anchored by a gas fireplace that sets the perfect mood for slow mountain evenings — curl up together on the sofa, flip on a favorite movie, and let the outside world wait. The fully equipped kitchen makes breakfast and dinner easy without ever having to leave, and the half bath on the main level adds everyday convenience.
Head upstairs to the king bedroom and you'll find the cabin's most charming architectural detail — a barn loft window that opens to overlook both the living room below and the mountains beyond. It's a feature that guests notice immediately and absolutely love. A flat screen TV and full bath complete the upstairs retreat.
The Screened Hot Tub: Your Private Evening Ritual
Step outside onto the covered, screened-in deck and settle into the four-person hot tub while the mountain air swirls around you and the trees sway in the breeze. This is the moment Sticks and Stones guests talk about most — the hot tub feels genuinely private and secluded, with rocking chairs nearby for when you want to simply sit, sip something warm, and breathe it all in. After a day of hiking the national park, exploring Gatlinburg, or riding the rides at Dollywood, nothing on earth feels better.
The mountain views from the deck are gorgeous in every season — brilliant green in summer, jaw-dropping color in fall, peaceful white in winter, and full of new life in spring.
Built for Couples, Perfect for Small Families
The sleeper sofa in the living room gives Sticks and Stones flexible sleeping for up to 4 guests total, making it ideal for two couples, a couple with children, or anyone who needs a little extra space without sacrificing that intimate, cozy cabin feeling. Amazing vacation!
We loved our stay at Sticks and Stones! The cabin was in the perfect location; secluded, yet not too far off the beaten path. We love the Smoky Mountains in the fall!

Perfect Location and Beautiful Cabin.
We are frequent travelers and rarely, if ever, use hotels. We prefer the AirBnb, VRBO, private rental world instead. If you are considering coming to the area, this cabin is a must, and for several reasons! First, the location is absolutely unbeatable. You are off the main thoroughfare that connects Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg, but far enough off that you do not hear the road noise. We could easily get to whichever destination we had set for the day. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes to everything. Second, we were on a motorcycle and so gravel and/or steep winding roads were a concern. Not here, very easy to get to (although if you are a beginner rider I would caution you a little) and the parking area was perfect for a motorcycle, car or truck. I suspect that in the winter, it might be difficult to make it up the hill without a 4X4 as well. The cabin itself is secluded, but not alone. There are cabins down the hill and up the hill, but none can be seen from the front or side porch with the hot tub. When you relax in the screened porch and hot tub, you have a wonderful view of the mountains and complete exclusivity. Inside, the cabin is perfectly appointed with a great kitchen (we cook a lot on our vacations), pretty much every kitchen tool, pot or pan you will need, although no condiments, pepper, sugar, etc. so bring it if you need it. There is a comfortable sitting area, a bathroom both upstairs and downstairs which is nice, and a comfortable king bed. A washer and dryer were also convenient as we pack light for bike trips. There is a charcoal grill outside as well. We loved the cabin and will plan to return.

Wonderful
Great cabin. Clean and well maintained. Driveway was big enough for Truck and trailer. Road is scary steep and narrow. Takes some time getting used to. Definitely needs WiFi. If you want to unplug it’s the place to go.

No more hotels for us! Cabins are the way to go
Perfect getaway cabin for 2. Cabin is clean and in a great location (less than 5 minutes form Pigeon Forge and less than 10 minutes from Gatlinburg. It is just off the highway but secluded back in the woods so you don't hear any traffic noise. Very private.
The kitchen is equipped well enough but if you plan on cooking any meals, be sure to bring tin foil for easier clean up and maybe Ziploc bags or small containers for leftovers because none of that is supplied. The only cleaning supplies provided is dish soap and dishwasher soap so clean up is tricky.
Definitely would return.

I enjoyed the USA Raft attraction most.

Great cabin
This is me and my husbands 3rd stay with heartland cabin rentals. Had an amazing time. We had stayed at the sticks n stones cabin before. The bed is so comfortable. Cabin was very clean. Hot tub was even clean with fresh water. The hair dryer didn't work. The plug looked damaged. But no big deal. Thanks heartland. You always provide awesome service.

Absoultly beautiful place to stay
Everything was perfect. The gentleman at the check-in office was very friendly and helpful. The cabin was in a beautiful location, was clean and well stocked. The only issue I can think of is some of the satellite channels did not work due to lost signal because the dish is not in an idea location but we didn't watch a lot of TV so it wasn't a big deal at all. Great place, great service! We will be back!
