Pet-Friendly Cabin FAQs

Everything you need to know before booking with your dog.

  • How much is the pet fee?
The pet fee is $125 plus applicable taxes per dog. It's a one-time, non-refundable charge — not a nightly fee — collected at the time of booking. That's typically far less than the cost of boarding your dog for the duration of your stay.
  • Do I need approval before bringing my dog?
Yes. All guests must contact our office and receive permission before bringing a pet. Please don't wait until check-in — reach out when you book so we can confirm the cabin is approved and add the pet fee to your reservation.
  • Are all Heartland cabins pet-friendly?
No. Only specific cabins are designated as pet-friendly, out of respect for guests with allergies or sensitivities. All listings shown on this page are pet-approved, but please confirm with our team at time of booking.
  • Is there a weight limit for dogs?
Most of our pet-friendly cabins are best suited for dogs 25 pounds or under. However, we do have select cabins that can accommodate larger breeds. If you have a bigger dog, give us a call and we'll find the right fit.
  • Can I bring cats or other animals?
Dogs only. We are not able to accommodate cats, birds, reptiles, or other animals in our pet-friendly cabins.
  • What if my dog causes damage to the cabin?
Guests are financially responsible for any and all damages caused by their pets. The pet fee covers additional cleaning and preparation — it does not cover property damage. We ask that guests be considerate of the property and report any issues promptly.
  • Can I take my dog into Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
Dogs are allowed in the park on a leash, but only in certain areas: the Gatlinburg Trail, Oconaluftee River Trail, picnic areas, campgrounds, and paved roads. They are not permitted on most hiking trails or in backcountry areas. Always check nps.gov/grsm for the most current rules before you go.
  • How many dogs can I bring?
This varies by cabin. Please contact our office to confirm how many dogs are allowed at the property you're interested in. Each dog requires its own $125 pet fee.
