Leprechaun Island — The Smokies' Most Magical & Unique Retreat
There's only one place in all the Smoky Mountains where two babbling creeks rush on either side of your very own private island, lush greenery spills over every surface, and Irish charm fills every corner of a charming mountain cottage. There's only one Leprechaun Island — and once you stay here, you'll understand why guests keep coming back.
A Setting Unlike Anything Else
Step off the back deck and follow the steps down to your very own private bridge, crossing over the rushing water to your personal island retreat. Stand in the middle of it, listen to the creeks flow on both sides, watch the sunlight dance through the trees, and feel the stress of real life simply wash away downstream. Kids absolutely love it. Adults rediscover their sense of wonder. And everyone agrees — there's nowhere quite like this.
The hammock strung up near the creeks might just be the most relaxing spot in all of Tennessee. Settle in with a book, close your eyes, and let the sound of the water do what no spa ever could.
Inside: Charming, Spacious & Full of Personality
Step inside and you're immediately wrapped in the warm, whimsical character of this one-of-a-kind cottage. The spacious open living area features a cozy gas fireplace, plenty of comfortable seating, and TVs throughout — including in both bedrooms and the game room. The large dining table seats the whole group, and the fully equipped kitchen means you can cook up a feast without ever leaving your island paradise.
The king master bedroom and queen guest bedroom each have their own full bath, giving everyone their own private space. A game room with a pool table keeps the fun going after dark, and a sleeper sofa in the game room means the cottage can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests.
Come November, the cottage transforms into a Christmas wonderland — five Christmas trees, gnomes galore, and festive decor that guests absolutely rave about. It's magical any time of year, but there's something extra special about the holidays here.
Outside: Pure Nature at Its Best
The deck hot tub is your reward after a day of hiking, shopping, or exploring — sink in, listen to the creeks, and watch the fireflies emerge as the sun sets over the trees. The covered porch with its rustic wooden furniture is the perfect spot for morning coffee, and the wooded grounds give you a sense of total privacy that's rare to find this close to all the action.
Steps From Everything, Miles From Ordinary
Leprechaun Island sits right on Highway 321 — a smooth, flat drive with no steep mountain roads to worry about — making it one of the most accessible private cabin experiences in the area. Downtown Gatlinburg is just a short drive away, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance is nearby, and Pigeon Forge and Dollywood are both within easy reach. You get the peace and quiet of nature with all the convenience of a prime Smoky Mountain location.
And yes — guests really do bring the kids down to the island to look for leprechauns. Some say they've spotted one. We're not confirming or denying anything.
Leprechaun Island sleeps up to 6 guests and includes free Wi-Fi, washer/dryer, charcoal grill, board games, book library, and free parking. No pets. No smoking.
4-wheel drive or chains required November through March in the event of inclement weather.
There's only one Leprechaun Island in the Smokies — book yours today before someone else finds the gold.

Leprechaun Island is a great option for those looking for an affordable and comfortable cabin in the Smokies. Heartland Rentals offers several amenities, including a working hot tub, covered area, and a hammock. The staff was helpful and accommodating, and the accommodations were easy to find. The property is located near Cosby, TN, making it convenient for visitors traveling from Gatlinburg. Overall, the property is well-maintained and in good condition, with many amenities available.

The cabin was very clean & so quiet. Our daughter who is special needs loved it. With her Autism she could walk all around inside. We’ll always do a cabin from now on. Plan on coming back in September

Our trip started off a little rough after leaving one place for the hot tub not working and the other charging my card and canceling our cabin do to it not being clean. These places both were booked with online Airbnb sites( which I’ll never use again after seeing how simple it was to deal with heartland cabins directly). Great place to stay overall! Very spacious and nice. Hot tub was hot when we got there ( some places don’t leave them on for you but heartland does!). The only cons to us were the beds are firm and we have a small child and there are some exposed nails on the back deck handrails. Others than that it was great.

We loved our stay at Leprechaun Island! It was a great space for a family to spread out, with two actual bedrooms and the game room with a pull-out couch serving as a relatively private space for one of the kids. We loved the outdoor space--from the porches to the hot tub to the island area out back. The kids spent lots of time in the hammock. Very convenient to the national park and the attractions in town, while being far enough out for some quiet and relaxation.

We stayed the week of 12/26/25-1/2/26. Cottage is cute and clean. It is right off the main road so no climbing hills. It was very spacious and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. 5 Christmas trees and gnomes galore ! Checking in and out was as simple as a text message.

Cute little place. A bit far from Gatlinburg but private and quiet. All one floor which was nice. Pool table has slate seams which made it hard to play but the hot tub was nice and the location was very cute. Kitchen cabinets are old but the overall space was huge.

If I were to create a property management company, I would model it after Heartland. Everything they do is very customer focused. Leprechaun was an excellent value. The property is a little dated, but also has amazing updates with flooring and appliances. I don't mind some outdated furnishings especially if it gets me a good deal when I visit the smokies. The cabin was the best I've ever seen in this price range as far as well-maintained, clean, working hot tub jets, cover, etc. The hammock was a very nice bonus to get an extra level of relaxation. The owners even allow you access to a small library of books and multiple board games. I mistakenly identified a weed as poison ivy and the property management company still had it removed that night around 630-700 pm. Loved the 3 season room for eating breakfast. I spent as much time as possible by the creeks out back. The door next to the front deck is stuck pretty hard so maintenance probably needs to address that to provide easier access to that area.

Cute cabin in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful yard and property. Very tranquil and relaxing space next to the creek. Interior is decorated cute and is very spacious! Kitchen cabinets and cookware could be improved and cabin needs a good cleaning on little details like window ledges, baseboards and shower door, but all kitchen appliances were brand new and very nice! Overall a very sweet place that we will def visit again! The record player and boom box provided didn't work but we made do with our phones for music. The TVs in every room is a big positive and the beds were really comfortable. Any needs or issues we had were addressed very quickly and the people sent were friendly and professional. Very responsive in every way. The pool table and hot tub were a hit as well as game table and large dining table.
