Call of the Wild | A One-of-a-Kind Mountain Retreat in the Smokies
There are cabins, and then there's Call of the Wild. Perched at the mountaintop on a private wooded lot between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, this authentically decorated two-bedroom log cabin is unlike anything you've stayed in before. Inspired by the beauty of the mountains and Native American artistry, every room tells a story — and every detail has been crafted with intention, right down to the locally handmade wood furniture and the rock shower etched with a hand-carved glass moose.
Step outside and breathe it in. The quiet, dead-end road invites evening strolls through the trees, where seasonal mountain views and the chance to spot local wildlife — including the occasional black bear — make every moment feel like an adventure. When the sun goes down, gather around the outdoor fire pit with its log benches and charcoal grill for an evening under the stars that you won't soon forget.
The Bear Room — the light-filled living area with soaring cathedral ceilings, gleaming hardwood floors, and a gas fireplace — sets the tone the moment you walk through the door. The fully equipped kitchen opens to a screened deck where the hot tub awaits, and an open-air deck furnished with handcrafted wooden pieces is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee while the mountains wake up around you.
The Moose Room — the romantic master suite — is a sanctuary unto itself. A handmade king log bed anchors the space, while the in-room jacuzzi tub, electric fireplace, and a stunning walk-in rock shower with a gorgeous glass moose etching and unique stone pedestal vanity make this bathroom feel more like a spa than anything else. Guests consistently rave about it — and once you see it, you'll understand why.
Head upstairs to the loft for a game of pool, then step out onto the upper deck with seating for four and let the treetops do the talking. The Wolf Room — the second bedroom with its sloping ceiling and windows nestled high in the canopy — has its own full bath and handmade king log bed, making it a cozy retreat within a retreat.
With 125 five-star reviews and guests returning for honeymoons, anniversaries, and family getaways alike, Call of the Wild delivers the kind of Smoky Mountain experience that stays with you long after you've headed home.

Call Of The Wild is clean, comfortable, and has everything needed. The bathrooms are very modern with a shower and bathtub. The hot tub is great and the pool table is perfect for relaxing. The location is close by but not too far from other cabins. The cabin was neat and tidy with all amenities included.

I cannot say enough nice things about our stay at the Call of the Wild cabin. The cabin was beautiful, the amenities were fantastic, the view was breathtaking, the location was absolutely perfect, and everyone we spoke with at Heartland was as nice as can be. We had such an amazing time that we've all decided we're going to come back and do this every year.

This cabin was beautiful. The rock showers were definitely what initially sold me. They were perfect. We enjoyed the hot tub, the pool table and loved cooking dinners. Hoping to return again soon. Thank you!

Call of the wild is a beautiful cabin. It is very well maintained and beautifully decorated in Native American motif. It is not secluded, but it is stil very quite and peaceful for a great getaway!

This cabin had plenty of room for the 4 of us, and was very clean upon our arrival. All the furniture was comfortable & and in great shape. The beds were very comfortable also. The kitchen was sufficiently stocked. The hot tub was clean and great to relax in! All outdoor chairs and swing were wonderful, as was the fire pit area. The lights for fire pit & screened in hot tub / deck was an added touch!! Each time I contacted the office, from the first time of renting this cabin to check out, Heartland’s staff was more than professional, but also extremely pleasant & helpful. Thank you to all the staff!!!

The entire process of renting a cabin, paying for a cabin, having to reschedule due to Covid... everything was smooth. Every single individual that I've had the pleasure of being in contact has been extremely friendly and helpful. The service alone is enough to have me coming back, but the cabin was well cared for and nothing was a surprise. I can't wait to book again!

We loved the cabin, rooms are spacious and bathrooms are great size. Cabin is a great size for 3-4 people. Hot tub and pool table are nice amenities, the only downfall were the bees around the grill and fire pit. We weren’t out there for long but there were quite a bit of them. We would definitely stay on this cabin again.

This was our 1st trip to the Smokey Mountains and Heartland Rentals did not disappoint! The cabin was very clean and cozy, beds and great room furniture was very comfortable. Call of the Wild is in a very convenient location...just a short drive to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We look forward to visiting the area again and will not hesitate to call Heartland Cabin Rentals!

Despite a hiccup with no water upon arrival, we were notified of the issue promptly and they already had water delivery scheduled for as soon as possible. The water servicer arrived promptly, was friendly, and even saved us the trouble of trying to refill the jacuzzi with the hose by pumping into it for us. The cabin itself is so fun— so much to look at and do. The area is beautiful. It was a stay where we could have happily not left the cabin or the little area it’s nestled in. Everything was clean. The theme was so immersive throughout the cabin, you truly feel you’re in the wild even indoors. Management was so helpful— I believe one wonderful patient woman stayed on the phone with me for much longer than anyone should reasonably expect— and helped me pick a few places to explore with the family, and explain where to go for the different things we needed. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you to the owner(s) and Heartland Rentals for being so organized and pleasant. We hope to visit ‘Call of the Wild’ again.

We had an amazing vacation. This is our fourth vacation in the Smokies and the second one with Heartland Cabin Rentals. We want to come back as after every daily hike our daughter told us “This was my favorite hike!” We will look nowhere else but to Heartland for renting again.
The location was perfect, cuddled in the hills, we even saw a mother bear and 2 cubs peacefully crossing the road 40 feet from our cabin door ( we were outside grilling).
The cabin was very very clean and had all that we needed.
We all wished it was a 2 week vacation not just one!
Thank you, Heartland Cabin Rentals!
