Bear Hug | Gatlinburg's Ultimate Lodge Experience — Newly Renovated for 2026
Some cabins are just a place to stay. Bear Hug is a destination all its own.
This rare, authentic 4-bedroom, 4-bath log cabin — featured in multiple log home magazines — has just been completely transformed by its new owners with a head-to-toe renovation that has to be seen to be believed. From the moment you walk through the door and look up at the stunning custom wagon wheel chandelier soaring above the two-story living room, you'll know this place is something special. And then you'll meet Bruce — the beloved moose above the fireplace who's been welcoming guests ever since.
The Lodge
Gather in the main living area, where brand new rustic leather furniture sets the tone for the ultimate mountain retreat. Sink into the sofa, fire up the 85-inch Roku Smart TV, challenge someone to a round on the PlayStation 5, and let the gas fireplace do the rest. Every TV in the cabin — all five of them — comes loaded with YouTube TV, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, Paramount, Peacock, and apps for Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, Spotify, and more. Log into your own accounts and watch whatever you want, wherever you are in the cabin.
Sleep Like Royalty
All four bedrooms feature king-size beds, Smart TVs with premium speakers, and total comfort. The master suite goes the extra mile with a Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower — because you deserve it. The living room sleeper sofa means the cabin can comfortably sleep up to 10.
The Kitchen
Feeding a crowd has never been easier. The fully equipped kitchen comes stocked with two ovens, two microwaves, two refrigerators, and a Keurig coffee maker — everything you need to cook a feast or fuel up before a day of adventure.
Game On
Head up to the loft and let the good times roll. A digital pinball machine with over 100 classic and modern games, a stand-up arcade, a cocktail arcade loaded with hundreds of titles — Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Street Fighter and more — plus shuffleboard, foosball, karaoke, board games, and cards. There is no such thing as a boring night at Bear Hug.
The Great Outdoors
When you're ready for fresh mountain air, step out to the wrap-around covered porch and settle into the rocking chairs or porch swing. Fire up the brand new premium hot tub with LED lighting and watch your favorite show on the mounted 58-inch TV while the jets work their magic. As the evening winds down, gather around the private fire pit with six Adirondack chairs for s'mores, stories, and stargazing under the Smoky Mountain sky.
The Location
Tucked just one mile from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Bear Hug puts you within easy reach of everything the area has to offer. Downtown Gatlinburg and the Aquarium are under 3 miles away. Dollywood is just over 10 miles. Ober Mountain — perfect for skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snow tubing in winter — is practically in your backyard. Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and all the shopping, dining, and attractions in between are just a short drive away.
Whether you're planning a family reunion, a milestone celebration, a friends' getaway, or simply the vacation your crew has been talking about for years — Bear Hug delivers the memories to match.

Bear Hug offers a comfortable cabin that is well maintained. The amenities include a kitchen, bathroom, and hot tub. The staff are attentive and friendly. The location is convenient for both adults and children. The only negative was the driveway being slippery.

The cabin was beautiful, in great shape and we loved the large kitchen full of options to use. The proximity to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge was a plus and we were lucky enough to see a bear in its natural environment.

We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The cabin was awesome and we all loved it.
The drains in the bathrooms drained slow.

The house is spacious and clean. The four bedrooms and bathrooms are perfect for a big group like ours. The house is located in a quiet woody area with green and fresh air to welcome you. The decorations adds a notch high for coziness. The house has enough utensils and glasses , but if your group likes to cook a few meals, you need to take your own spice and maybe a few extra rolls of paper towels. We enjoyed our 4 day stay in the house.

This cabin was amazing! We felt right at home from the minute we walked in. The appliances and rooms are all up to date along with comfortable beds!
The only negative I felt we had was the steep driveway but this is expected with higher up cabins.
We will be back!

Perfect Smokey Mountain Getaway for our group. We had 4 adults and 4 children under 5 and couldn’t be happier with our stay. Cabin was great exactly as advertised. Hot tub was perfect. Location was great. Far enough away you felt like you were alone in the mountains but actually only 15-20 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. National Park is minutes away.
Informational tidbits we had AT&T Cell phones and service was minimal to non-existent. And the cabin has no WiFi (doesn’t advertise that it does). These weren’t really issues for us but if you need those things heads up. Also you are very, VERY close to nature. We had bears on our porch and at least one has learned to open car doors so make sure you lock your doors and keep food inside. I could not recommend this place enough for a family getaway.

Great place and location to downtown or to the National Park. Very clean and well stocked only drawback was no Wif, one person in my group needed to do a little work. Everything else was great would use them again.

Fabulous Family Vacation Rental!
This house was mountain perfect! Beautifully decorated and well maintained, it suited our family perfectly which included three teenagers. The Heartland office staff was very helpful when we needed to contact them. The house location was also a win. We even saw bears on two occasions. We would definitely stay here or rent from Heartland again.
Yes, I would recommend this vacation rental to a friend or family member!
I did not use the Gateway To Fun pass.

Bear Hug Didn't Disappoint
Our Bear Hug experience started with the quick and easy check in process which was all done electronically. Once we arrived, the cabin was clean, very roomy, and just as advertised. We experienced a black bears roaming around both evenings as it slowly crossed the road below us. My kids loved the experience. The location is close to Gatlinburg which made it easy to get around to experience the town. There are great views along the drive up to the cabin as well.
