If you’re returning to the Smokies and you’ve already visited the most popular waterfalls in the area then you might be looking for something new. If so, then we have the list for you! Here are five waterfalls that are lesser known but just as breathtakingly beautiful.
1. Spruce Flats Falls
First on our list is Spruce Flats Falls, a moderately difficult trail that begins at Tremont but doesn’t end at the falls. You’ll see Spruce Flats Falls not far into your hike and you might not want to leave. It’s a beautiful view and a peaceful place for a picnic.
2. Hen Wallow Falls
This beautiful four and a half mile trail is just what you need for your afternoon hike. With a gentle elevation gain this trail leads to a cascading waterfall, flowing down the rock face. This is one spot you want to make sure is on your bucket list.
3. Cataract Falls
This waterfall is on the smaller side but also comes with a shorter hike. You can park at the Sugarland's Visitor Center and take a short walk to the foot of the falls. Make sure to avoid climbing around the area as the rocks can be fairly slippery.
4. Cane Creek Twin Falls
Of all the waterfalls on this list, Cane Creek Twin Falls is the most popular. It’s still not the most visited however, and makes for a great afternoon stroll. The hike is only ten minutes long and you can walk to the waterfall to stroll across the suspension bridge and see the towering waterfall from above.
5. Juney Wank Falls
This adorable waterfall is at the end of an easy trail, perfect for you and the kids. The only thing to look out for is the steeper incline of the trail. When you reach the waterfall you’ll cross a footbridge that will provide a stunning view of your destination.
