Winterfest Trolley Tours
Oct 24, 2015
It’s the hallmark of the Winterfest celebration in the Smokies—the millions and millions of holiday lights that twinkle on display in the cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. In each city, you’ll find dozens of festive animated and colorful light displays that bring an instant feeling of good tidings and cheer to those who stand in their glow.
Traditionally, visitors to the Smokies take in the Winterfest lights while traveling by car or even on foot. But there’s another way to check out the displays that’s a lot warmer and more comfortable and doesn’t require that you also pay attention to traffic. Gatlinburg’s Trolley Ride of Lights and Pigeon Forge’s Trolley Tour of Lights both are specially designated trolley rides that take passengers on a brilliantly scenic spin around each of their respective towns.
For those staying in our cabin rentals in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the city of Gatlinburg’s trolleys depart at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 nightly from the transit center at Ripley’s Aquarium through January 31. In Pigeon Forge, the tours depart Patriot Park at 6:30, 7:45 and 9 nightly and run through the first two weeks of January. Both cities’ tours cost $5 per person. You can also see Dollywood’s own awesome light displays when you visit that theme park during their Smoky Mountain Christmas festival.
