Annual Winterfest Events in Gatlinburg

Winterfest is already chugging ahead at full steam in Gatlinburg, and those coming to town in the next couple of weeks have a number of special holiday events to choose from to help make their seasonal visit to the Smokies a little brighter. If you’re staying in one of our Gatlinburg cabins during the next week or so, here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store.

Festival of Trees – November 20 – 24, 2012
This annual event, which takes place at the W.L. Mills Auditorium, lets guests shop for handmade centerpieces and other craft items while surrounded by the sights, sounds and smells of the holidays. Hundreds of festive Christmas trees serves as the backdrop of this event, which includes a gingerbread house contest and hand-made decorations.

Great Smoky Craft Shows – November 21 – December 2, 2012
The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community presents its two annual holiday craft fairs at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. The Thanksgiving craft show runs 11/21 through 11/25, while the Christmas craft fair runs 11/26 through 12/2. Both events showcase the handmade works of some of the region’s most skilled and talented artisans. See works that range from pottery and woodworking to jewelry and broom making. Many exhibitors will perform live demonstrations of their crafts daily.

Nutcracker “Sweet” – November 23 and 24, 2012
The Great Smoky Mountain Dance Theatre presents their take on a timeless holiday classic at the W.L. Mills Auditorium, nightly at 7 p.m.
