Downtown Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival

The City of Gatlinburg hosts the first-ever Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival (SMSWF) August 23 through 25. This event is open to the public and will give music fans a chance to enjoy live performances by singers and songwriters from around the nation. Admission is free at most of the venues.

The lineup includes top industry writers such as Bill Labounty (“Rock My World” by Brooks and Dunn), Kim Williams (“Ain’t Goin’ Down Till The Sun Comes Up” by Garth Brooks), Bobby Tomberlin (“One More Day” by Diamond Rio) and Mark Nesler (“Just To See You Smile” by Tim McGraw), to name just a few of the dozens of scheduled artists, who will be performing in a family-friendly environment.

One of the festival highlights will be the SMSWF Songwriters Competition Finale and Award Night Performances, which will take place at the Edgewater Hotel on River Road in Gatlinburg. Finalists will be performing at the festival, giving them exposure to publishers, producers, record label companies, DJs, producers and others.

The festival also includes four songwriter workshops on Saturday and Sunday as well as a live concert by Jimbo Whaley and Greenbrier at the W.L. Mills Auditorium at 6 p.m. on the 25th.

And if you’re going to be in town for the event this weekend, it’s not too late to reserve one of our Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge rental cabins.
