Shenandoah Tour Coming To Pigeon Forge

Country favorite Shenandoah to perform in Pigeon Forge

Popular country music group Shenandoah is set to perform at 8 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge.

Presented by First Class Productions, the show will be a special treat for fans since Marty Raybon, the group’s original lead singer, rejoined the group in August 2014.

Shenandoah, founded in 1984 in Muscle Shoals, Ala. as a house band, had 13 No. 1 records and hits like “Mama Knows,” “Two Dozen Roses,” “Ghost in This House” and “I Wanna Be Loved Like That.”

Marty Raybon left the group in 1997 and recorded one album with his brother, Tim, as the Raybon Brothers for MCA Nashville Records. They charted within the Top 40 on both the country and Billboard 100 Hot Charts with a rendition of Bob Carlisle’s song, “Butterfly Kisses,” followed by “The Way She’s Lookin’.”

He continued to tour with Shenandoah until the end of the year, when the remaining members disbanded and he sold the naming rights.

In 2000, Marty Raybon released a second solo album with the hit “Cracker Jack Diamond.”

Seales, McGuire, Munsey and Thacker reunited as Shenandoah in 2000, with two new members: lead singer Brent Lamb and guitarist/vocalist Curtis Wright.

Lamb left the group in 2002 with Wright succeeding him on lead vocals and original bassist Ezell later rejoining.

Sadly, Ezell died of a heart attack in November 2007. Mike Folsom succeeded him on bass guitar.

Wright left the band to join a re-established Pure Prairie League, and songwriter Jimmy Yeary took over as lead singer.

Yeary and McGuire co-wrote a song called “You’ll Never Know” as a tribute to Ezell, which singer Darryl Worley recorded on his 2009 album “Sounds Like Life.”

When Marty Raybon rejoined last year, he replaced lead singer Doug Stokes. Other current members include McGuire, Munsey, bassist Chris Lucas and lead guitarist Jamie Michael.

Tickets for the show are $35 plus tax.
