Dollys Homecoming Parade

Dolly Homecoming Parade
Dolly Homecoming Parade is an Event for the family. Heartland Cabin Rentals, your Gatlinburg Cabin Rental company of choice has been present in the crowd or a part of the parade itself for over 20 year, we just love it when our hometown hero Dolly Parton makes an appearance.
Pigeon Forge Events don't get much more exciting than the annual Dolly Parton Parade. Each year over 50,000 people converge on the peaceful smoky mountain vacation town of Pigeon Forge in hopes of seeing Dolly herself.
If you are not a country music fan you may ask yourself, Where is Dolly Parton from and why does she host this parade each year? Dolly Parton grew up right here in Sevierville TN, as a child she began her music career appearing on the Cas Walker Radio show. After graduating from High school Dolly made her way to Nashville and a Star was born. The Dolly Parton Homecoming Parade like many events in the Smoky Mountains is free for guests and locals alike.
This year, May 1st 2015 at precisely 6:00 PM will mark the 30th anniversary of Dolly's Homecoming Parade, so be sure to make your reservations well in advance. Heartland cabin rentals offers romantic 1 bedroom Honeymoon cabins all the way up to our family reunion friendly 5 bedroom cabins. Have a dog /pet who is a member of the family, Heartland Cabin Rentals has Pet Friendly Cabins so that you can bring all members of the family on your Smoky Mountain vacation
Driving / Traffic
- Thinking about travel in and around the Pigeon Forge on the day of the parade, Once you've checked in, you will want to find your way to Pigeon Forge fairly early, Northbound lanes typically are converted to two way traffic from 4:00 pm till the end of the parade. The Southbound lanes will be closed for that part of the day. Parking is always an issue for visitors who are staying in cabins. Patriot Park is typically jammed full of cars, we suggest parking at the malls on Teaster lane.
- Immediately following the Parade it will be very difficult to make your way to Gatlinburg, our suggestion would be to find something fun to do South of Pigeon Forge or even in Sevierville.
Pigeon Forge activities are the next stop for most visitors, where to eat and what to do, will become the next topic of discussion. Let's remember that traffic will be very congested in and around Pigeon Forge for the next several hours. Your best bet is to do something out of the ordinary; I would make plans to visit The Titanic Museum, WonderWorks Amusement Park for the Mind and or take a ride on the Wonders of Flight Balloon, while you are there catch a quick dinner at the Pigeon Forge Hard Rock Café.
Why head west? It will be the easiest direction to make progress moving in and around the Smokies, find some place to have some fun and let the traffic issue dissipate.
