ut -2 – 3 -4, Left, Right, Left…. Left…

If these are the kind of words that get your feet moving, then you G.I.Joes need to march on in to Gatlinburg, TN for the 8th Annual Mountain Man Memorial March on Saturday, April 11, 2015!

Military or civilian personnel, individuals or teams, may participate in the full marathon, half marathon, or 10K run.  Got a Cub Scout or Girl Scout troop – bring them!  They will learn first-hand about honoring our service people, and patriotism!  The entry fees to participate in the Mountain Man Memorial March will go toward providing scholarship grants to Gold Star Family members (those that have lost a family member in the line of duty), and a donation to the  University of Tennessee Army and Air Force ROTC programs and American Legion Post #2, in Knoxville TN, will be made.

The Mountain Man Memorial March

was started in 2008 as a personal tribute for the 2005 University of TN ARMY ROTC graduate 1Lt Frank Walkup, who was killed in action in Iraq.  But it has morphed into a tribute to all of our men and women in uniform, but especially those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

The opening ceremony begins at 8:30am across the street from the Pi Beta Phi Elementary School in Gatlinburg  The course will include portions of downtown Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Don't think you could last the 26.2 mile march/run with a 35 lb rucksack on your back – well, the good news is you don't have to; just by being present you will support, motivate and encourage others who wish to try!

Heartland Cabin Rentals stands ready to help you with your weekend stay for the Mountain Man Memorial March with a variety of cabin styles and location choices including Cabins in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge area!  Every reservation includes a Gateway to Fun Pass; that’s one free admission to a variety of great entertainment such as Ripley's Aquarium, Ziplining, Lumberjack Feud, Country Tonight, white water rafting, and putt-putt golfing – all great family fun activities to complete your trip to honor America's fallen heroes!  Come enjoy the scenic views, the camaraderie, and challenge yourself all while honoring the families of our fallen heroes.
