Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival
Isn’t it amazing how quickly Christmas comes upon us each year? Seems that by the arrival of Halloween, we’re already wondering if there will be enough time to do all those ‘warm and fuzzy’ things we’d hoped to do last year! Don’t let Christmas sneak up on you because the ‘Christmas Spirit’ doesn’t show up until it’s almost too late. This year, rouse your inner Magic Elf at the 2013 Dollywood Christmas in the Smokies Festival.
The event starts on November 9 and is guaranteed to kick the Christmas Spirit into high gear with music, lights, sights and smells of the season. We can’t think of a better way to enjoy Christmas unless you can enjoy it for two entire months! Check out the Dollywood Christmas schedule and jump-start the festivities at Dollywood with some of the best Pigeon Forge Christmas shows.
The entertaining lineup of shows at Dollywood for this year’s season includes the brand new ‘Dollywood’s A Christmas Carol,’ which puts Dolly on stage as a holographic Ghost of Christmas Past in a heartwarming adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic. The 45-minute musical will feature seven new songs written by Dolly!
The ‘Christmas in the Smokies’ show is a timeless Dollywood tradition, and will again offer classic Christmas music and songs on a beautiful stage decorated for the holidays. ‘O Holy Night’ takes you to the heart of “The Christmas Story” and ‘Christmas with the Kingdom Heirs’ offers up a Southern Gospel Christmas of favorite hymns. But there’s still more! A Christmas miracle arrives during ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ and you can relish a taste of Tennessee with acoustic sounds at the Backstage Theater’s ‘Appalachian Christmas.’ In all, Dollywood produces six of the best Christmas shows in Pigeon Forge and you can enjoy them straight through to January 4, 2014.
As if that isn’t enough to light the holiday fires, restaurants at Dollywood are serving up seasonal favorites with traditional buffet dining, feature drinks and sweet treats at every turn. The shops are filled with stocking stuffers and made in Tennessee gifts, and the entire park boasts millions of Christmas lights twinkling your way through Dolly’s wonderland. You can even make your visit completely hassle free by parking the car at Patriot Park and riding the Pigeon Forge Trolley. The Dollywood trolley makes continuous trips throughout the festival from thirty minutes before Dollywood opens and in the evening until everyone is returned to Patriot Park.
Take our recommendation and season your holiday spirit with a great stay in a Heartland cabin with warm and cozy fireplace and a day or two at Dollywood. Christmas definitely comes early in the Smokies. Listen to Dolly's "The Greatest Gift of All" while choosing your Christmas cabin!
